About
Well known for her visionary realist paintings, Santa Fe artist
Cynthia West is also skilled in poetry, photography, digital
imaging and book arts. Her home of fifty years, where she lives with her husband and family, is a healing center, as well as her studio and gallery. Many travel great distances to be restored by her remarkable art and gardens.
West says, “The act of painting is prayer to me. I enter a sacred
land where I dream, where I see, where I know. My images are
not only paintings. The works are doorways into worlds we’ve
been taught to forget. They linger on the threshold of imagination urging us to return to what we most desire. Experiences with which we can interact, they are waiting to draw us into remembrances beyond the horizon of words. My canvases are offerings of love, respect, honor and gratitude to my grandmothers, grandfathers, husband, children, teachers and friends for the endless gifts they have bestowed”.
